Sustainability

1

Biological control

Biological friends help us every day, for example: geckos who help fight spiders and their rags.

2

Oxygen

No CO2, but oxygen. Our plants are the green lungs of South Holland. The CO2 released by the refineries on the Maasvlakte is captured, transported to our greenhouses and converted into oxygen by our plants.

3

Recycling

95% of our waste streams are recycled, steps are taken every day to get to 100%.

4

No natural gas

Our greenhouse is heated by using the residual heat that is released at both the power plant and the waste plant in Rotterdam.

5

Rainwater

We use rainwater to water our plants. The rainwater that falls on the greenhouses is collected and stored in silos. We also collect the water that we use in the greenhouses through our recirculation system.

6

Peat-free

At Cympha, we are moving towards peat-free cultivation and expect all our products to be delivered peat-free by the end of 2025.

7

Green electricity

At Cympha, we use only green electricity. This is power generated from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydropower, and biomass. Green electricity emits significantly less or even no CO₂ at all. This makes it a more sustainable choice and helps reduce climate change.

Cympha produces its plants under the following quality marks:
